Team for Burnley
Can't remember the last time we had a game on a Saturday at 3pm - the good old days.

I would expect another fairly attritional, low-scoring game against Burnley, but that could change if somebody scores early. There is probably no point judging either the team as a whole or any individuals for a rather lackluster performance at Stockport - the conditions were truly atrocious.

Presumably Fredericks, Balbuena and Diop will still be isolating for this one, and we only have one striker despite what that tedious tit Faux Bare might think. All of which makes it fairly easy to pick the side. Probably the only area for serious debate is which two to play out of Fornals, Lanzini and Benrahma. Personally, I would like to see Fornals in the No.10 role and Benrahma wide left. Having said that, I'm noticing more and more that these players are becoming very good at interchanging positions and covering for each other. Not that it particularly seems to help when we're trying to penetrate packed defenses, which is the thing we most need to work on.

Fabianski
Coufal Dawson Ogbonna Cresswell
Bowen Soucek Rice Benrahma
Fornals
Antonio

We seem to be better equipped for away games and Burnley with Tarkowski, Mee and a very well organized unit give very few chances away.

I fear the inevitable Chris Wood header at some point and they scuttle off yet again with the 3 points against us.

Would be interesting to look at our record at home especially against the so called lesser teams? This season we have been very fortunate to get a win against Villa, and Fulham and we’re less than convincing against Brighton where we drew and were lucky to get a point versus Palace?

Some fans saying it’s a relatively easy run if 4 games ahead where we should be looking at maximum points?

Both low scoring?

West Ham goals - 24 (one less than Man City)
Burnley goals - 9

Ron, I like that. I’ve been pondering Soucek as an AM for a while, but didn’t realise that Moyes had said he could play there.

Fornal’s biggest problem is his finishing. Soucek is fantastic at finishing. So, as you say, these games are the opportunity to try something different out.

2 low scoring sides. First goal wins if you ask me, so I'll go with a grim but worthy 1-0 to the might irons!

Dave. DM has said Soucek can play either DM or am. Think it's a good opportunity to try it. He has a natural instinct for getting in the right position at the right time, is good with his head and doesn't panic with is feet. Worth a try as is Fornals alongside Rice. Others have suggested he can work there. These 2 games seem ideal to try it out.

No Balbuena, apparently isolating.

Derrr!!!
The reason he makes those late runs is because he comes from a deeper position.
His partnership with Rice works perfectly well.
The dilema is who to play infront of Rice and Soucek

Lee have you never had rice with your chicken curry.

Fornals obviously. I'd like to try him alongside Rice and Soucek behind Antonio and the next 2 would seem good games to see if that works. Losing Fornals' industry in front of Cresswell is a risk but I think he could work alongside Rice. Similarly Soucek playing further forward, making his late runs into the box and exploiting his natural ability to get into good positions to meet crosses is worth trying. With neither of Burnley/WBA likely to try putting us under lots of pressure down our lhs I would like us to try it and doubt they would expect this. We can always change around again during the game if we have to.

4-3? Blimey! Most of us are expecting a low score. Well, stranger things have happened.

We can out muscle Burnley actually, one team that can.
Both teams will equal each other out,our defending will be important.....whilst at the other end we need to do something different....more short corners I expect.
I'm now on the side of Benrhama for this, one player on both teams that will/can do something special....
4-3

Tomshardware,

I’d be wary of believing a thing that fraser says. His brain is fried from all the Jack and Jills he’s popped over the years.

He dunno what day it is.
